MayFlower Power

about

MayFlower Power, as the name suggests, is my take on the "flower power" psychedelic music of the 60s. I was just a kid, in those days, but I remember the music well. This recording features two rhythm tracks, one with a Vibratone efffect and one without. These two tracks alternate between the left and right channels all the way through the song. There is also a reverse delay track that gives the illusion of a backwards guitar, similar to what you might have heard from the Beatles or Jimi Hendrix. There is also an EBow "flute" track, which you can hear trilling throughout the song. All these parts were played on my Les Paul. Lastly, I used my Strat for the main lead. I fattened up its sound by using the S1 switch, which is a push-switch on the volume pot. I believe I had it set with the middle and bridge pickups in series.

The song is intended to be a "tapestry of sound," as much as anything else.
