Midnight on the Mesa (acoustic & bass)

about

This was an alternate version I made of this song. It features a 2012 Martin DC Aura on rhythm and lead, a 2012 Rickenbacker 4003 on bass.

This song was a struggle because I didn't have proper isolation headphones at the time and had to use earbuds. I recorded to a "click track" but was not able to keep the click volume high enough to be heard all the time without bleeding into the open mics, so the tempo varies slightly in places, causing the guitar to sometimes be out of sync with the drums. So for this version, I decided not to use any drum track at all.

Trivia:

* According to the files, the actual recording took place on June 24, 2014 and this mix was made on June 26, 2014.

* I used a TASCAM DP-006 Pocketstudio recorder to record everything (using the internal mics).

* Mixing was done using Adobe Audition 3.0.

* I had been playing bass for less than a month.
