Stroke of Luck

from Brainage Drainage by Joseph R. Ellis

about

A Les Paul duet of sorts. One Les Paul utilizes an EBow while the other uses a standard pick. It was a song idea I had more than a year ago. I ran across the demo recording and decided to see if I could do more with it.

About the title: This was the first original song I recorded after suffering a stroke last year. It was pretty severe for awhile...I couldn't swallow or speak, couldn't stand or walk without assistance and even had double vision for a few days. I was on a feeding tube for several months and spent 2 weeks in the hospital and another 3 weeks or so in rehab. I gradually got back the ability to swallow, but it took a surgical procedure to give me a voice again. I'm now able to walk without a cane or other assistance and have gotten back most of my abilities. So, yeah, I feel lucky to be where I am. It could have been much worse.

Thanks for listening!
